Drawing inspiration from this age-old proverb, in its ‘Golden Jubilee’ of Existence (2011), RGA chase to focus on supporting students from ecanomically weaker backgrounds and established ‘RGA Swarna Jayanti Shiksha Nyas’.
RGA Golden Jubilee Education Trust
While interacting closely with needy students and their families, our volunteers found that financial condition of many Rajasthani families is very pitioble. Untimely death of earing member, terminal disease, loss in business and due to several other reasons, the economic condition gets affected.
There are many bright youngsters from such families who forego their dream of better education and hence a better future, as they cannot effort the investment of higher education. To promote the cause of education, and to ensure continuity, it was decided to establish a dedicated scholarship fund thereby not only protecting the corpus, but also to ensure that the income from corpus, is necessarily spent only to support this initiative. The Trust is registered under the Indian Trust Act as well as under Section 12A & 80G of the Income Tax Act. Donors contributing ₹1 Lac and more become Life Trustees of the Trust. Ensuring transparency, the Trust is governed by the ‘Trust Board’ which is elected by the Life Trustees. Under provisions of Corporates social Responsibility also the companies can grant donations to the Trust.
Pioneering this effort was Late MR.Ramgopal Goenka whose family contributed the initial corpus of ₹21.5 Lacs and further grants an annual contribution of ₹2 Lacs. These efforts were enhanced by the support of M/s Ramcharan Oil Industries who contributed ₹24 Lacs for the noble cause. With the support of several generous donors, the Fund has crossed the milestone of ₹3.4 Crores. During the current academic year, over 530 students have benefitted from scholarhips to the tune of ₹32 Lacs.
Fulfilling the dreams of so many youngsters and their families has led us at RGA to also see a dream. Our dream is that of supporting as many more students as possible. To this effect, we hope to enchance the corpus of this fund the tune of ₹5 Crores. We sincerely hope you would join us in this cause by supporting it with your generous contributions.
